Miami in Virtual Earth Makes News

Microsoft Virtual Earth partner IS Consulting has been working with the City of Miami to redevelop its mapping web site that has been using ESRI ArcIMS, to now leverage the the Virtual Earth platform to provide the visualization component to the site.

Says Mark Alexander, President of IS Consulting, "The desire was to offer visitors to the web site a heightened user experience, a more intuitive interface, and a significant wow-factor."

Though a quick visit to the Miami site indicates that the redesign is not yet live, the resulting web site has received some coverage through the Miami Herald.

Once the site is live, visitors will be able to view city zones and districts, as well as property parcels and related information from the tax rolls. When in the 3D mode of Virtual Earth, site visitors can actually do ‘fly throughs’ of the city.  City of Miami officials expect this new web site to be easier for Miami citizens to use in order to get the information they need about zoning and property information on file with the City.
